the Little Nonya show now airing on channel 8 at 9pm opened a window into the little-known peranakan culture.

the straits chinese community, an integral but oft-neglected part of this region of asia. it holds such intriguing tales! i rmb visiting a peranakan house in malacca a few yrs back and being fascinated by it. :D

on mon night zel (the sister's peranakan bf) brought home one of his family's fave dish: ayam buah keluak.


which, i shld say, registered a very odd taste to my senses. >.<

but interestingly enough, it's the sister's fave peranakan delicacy now. see what having a peranakan bf can do to you! like alter your taste preferences drastically haha. :D



a recollection of mum's first words to the sister when she found out zel was peranakan:

"huh, so he doesnt eat pork??" (in chi of course)

LOL! a misconception that the sister hastily sought to correct. :P




anw, it's been a while since i last wrote. besides the usual stuff like piano and tv, some significant events included a gathering at jf's place 2 sats ago, preparation for --- at my place with ellen, and the 4day3night music camp that just ended on mon.
